A lot has happened since I graduated Liberty University in 2002. God led my wife, Jewell and I to Calvary Chapel in Lynchburg where we were married in 2007. In the 6 years we have been there, we had our only child, Lydia (now 3), my wife has had a stroke, I have changed jobs numerous times and have stepped down from working with the youth to spend more time with my daughter in the evenings while my wife works and attends school at LGH School of Nursing.

I still can't believe it!!!
The Man, The Myth, The Mentor, Dr. Jerry Falwell, passed away at 12:40PM Tuesday, May 15, 2007. I know that he is in a far better place, but for those of us that remain, he will be greatly missed. I can't help but relive two great experiences I had in meeting "Doc". One, while Jewell and I were crossing the road just above Religion Hall and were in the crosswalk, he came rolling up and stopped dead in the middle of the road, rolled his window down and began to ask us where we were from, when we would graduate, what we were studying, and several other questions. He didn't care that others behind him were starting to get held up, he just was talking to students and that is all that he cared about at the time. The other occurred just about a week before I graduated in 2002, a friend of mine that happened to know "Doc's" secretary, set up a lunch meeting with about 10 students, Bev Lowry and none other than Dr. Falwell. He met with us at Macado's, a favorite restaurant of his, and to our surprise, came in without his "entourage," as he had sent them to the location of his next meeting. He spent a good hour eating and talking with us. One of my friends that were there, almost decided to shoot his straw wrapper off the straw, but because we were with "Doc" decided not to. What does "Doc" do?!? He shoots his own straw wrapper off the straw and it sent the whole group of us into an uproar. That is how I remember Dr. Falwell, and I will never forget all that he has done for Liberty, and for this country of ours. Truly, Dr. Falwell will never be forgotten. In the words of Dr. Godwin I leave you with this "A Giant of the faith has fallen!!!" Please remember his family and the whole Liberty family as well, and celebrate the life of this great man of God!!!
